What They See IS What They Hear: The Power of Visual Suggestion
Rodney Eichenberger, one of the leading pedagogues in choral music, demonstrated to us that what they (the choir) see (in our conducting) is what we hear (in their sound). Some of the findings of Jeremiah's recent research builds on that idea from the perspective of the one receiving the communication (student or audience), specifically what they (the audience) sees is what they (the audience) hears. On Saturday, May 2 at 11:45am, Jeremiah will be presenting his research to state teachers at the Connecticut Music Educators Association conference. Additionally, based on this research, he will share possible ways for both students and conductors-teachers to incorporate more visual information as a part of the rehearsal and performance communication process.
